At PokitDok, we are an eclectic cornucopia of software developers, data scientists and technology enthusiasts who are also passionate about everything from snowboarding and squirrels, to kite-boarding and beyond. Our bi-coastal team is united by a passion to evolve the business of health via the technology and solutions we dream up and subsequently, create.

In addition to announcing these new team members, we thought it pertinent to offer some color as to who they are in - and out of the office. Without further ado, please meet the latest additions to the PokitDok family:

Kent Elmer,  Chief Financial Officer

Following the close of our
Series B announcement in August, Kent Elmer formally joined PokitDok as Chief Financial Officer. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) specializing in finance and operations, Kent has served as the acting CFO of PokitDok throughout the last year.  Earlier in his career he held the same position at IQ Software Corp., Carecentric Solutions, Digital Furnace, and R.F. Solutions and participated in the acquisition and integration of more than 10 early stage companies while at Broadcom Corporation. Since 2003, Kent has provided CFO services to a number of growth-stage technology companies as the Managing Partner of TechCXO LLC, a technology focused management consulting firm.

Kent is originally from Greenville, South Carolina and is huge fan of all things sports. He spends his spare time with his family on the lake, rooting for Arsenal, his favorite soccer team, and listening to ‘80s jams by Journey and Chicago. Once upon a time he ate a rattlesnake - but that, he says, is a story for a different time. He is excited to continue his PokitLife because of the team’s propensity for disruptive innovation and his passion for changing the face of healthcare - one number at a time.

Jim Kelly, Chief Revenue Officer

Jim Kelly joins PokitDok’s Charleston, SC location as Chief Revenue Officer. He brings more than 25 years of sales experience to PokitDok, including a decade with CA Technologies, where he managed a division that generated $150M in annual sales. Most recently, he led BenefitFocus’ sales division catering to self-insured employer groups. He has an exceptional track record of recruiting and leading sales teams that deliver novel technology solutions to large organizations.

Jim, originally from Chicago, is known for a great many things including, but not limited to, his endless (sans-caffeine) energy, an unwavering allegiance to the Cubs, and a passion for road biking. When asked, he said he would love to have dinner with Thomas Edison because of “his willingness to challenge the status quo - and his relentlessness to be successful.” Jim is also an avid traveller, having visited all but one of America’s 50 states (No worries, Jim, we'll see if we can't send you to New Hampshire soon.) He joined the PokitDok team because, he “loves working with smart, talented people who have no fear [and who are] changing the future.”

Bryan Smith, Chief Scientist

Bryan Smith joins PokitDok as Chief Scientist. Bryan specializes in advanced analytics, machine learning and interactive data visualization methods and will be instrumental in extracting insight on financial trends and behavioral patterns in healthcare. He comes to PokitDok’s San Mateo office from Sapient, where he led the Global Data Science Practice. Earlier in his career, he was Vice President of Neuroscience Research at EmSense, where he created a predictive model of box office returns for movies based on biosensory and survey data acquired from those watching movie trailers.

Bryan is a California native who spends his spare time with his family or running around the Berkeley hills. One day, he would love to travel to Kepler-438b - and encourages someone to offer shuttle service soon. He decided to join the PokitDok team for a number of reasons, the main one of which is to “break healthcare… so we can fix it”. Consequently, Bryan makes it his mission to break stuff daily- and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Jack Lunn, Vice President of Professional Services

Jack Lunn joins PokitDok as Vice President of Professional Services, bringing more than 20 years of experience in information technology, including a decade in healthcare. Most recently, he developed a Cross-domain Identity Management Server in .NET as a consultant to Okta Corporation, best known for its secure identity management and single sign-on technology. Before that, Lunn spent 11 years in engineering at Benefitfocus. There, he led the carrier engineering group focused on enrollment software and was responsible for the initial integration with HealthCare.gov.

Outside the office, Jack, originally from Baton Rouge, is best known for his sense of humor. He has a strong allegiance to the LSU Tigers, loves dogs of all shapes and sizes, and is a dedicated student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Having dinner with Alexander the Great and traveling to Hong Kong rank high on Jack’s wish list and he’s a surprisingly big fan of Dr. Seuss. Jack also enjoys the X files because “it’s a cool show and [he] loves scifi.” Jack is excited to join the PokitDok team because he feels it’s an opportunity to be part of a team of cutting edge technologists who are diligently working to improve the business of health.

“The greatest barrier to innovation in healthcare to date has been legacy infrastructure which was never architected to support real time, patient-centered business models,” said Lisa Maki, co-founder and CEO, PokitDok. “With fresh capital and new leadership, PokitDok is strategically positioned to place major market bets and embark on a significant period of growth and expansion internationally. We’ve been fortunate to quickly attract and recruit senior executives ...to help lead the way and will be announcing more additions to our team next quarter.”

A big PokitDok welcome to Kent, Jim, Bryan and Jack in addition to all of our other recent hires and feel free to read the full press release.
